ERDGAS was founded by 17 leading German natural gas distribution companies in 2009. Their mission is to pool all activities and competencies, concerning natural gas and biogas as alternative fuels in the German traffic sector and to open up additional market potentials. Their range of services contains offers in the area of planning and implementation of CNG-filling stations, sales and marketing activities, trading biogas fuel quotes.
Within the framework of the LNG-BC project, ERDGAS aims to enlarge its service portfolio by offering the implementation and operation of LNG filling stations to potential customers, who are involved in logistical transport services. By providing at least one LNG filling station and the organisation of the regular secured fuel supply ERDGAS contributes to one location in Germany. In cooperation with other participants from verging EU-countries the major project objective will be realized to demonstrate a long-distance transport opportunity across Europe based on LNG instead of diesel. ERDGAS is responsible for the coordination of “WP5 – fleet demonstration” and in particular for the so called West-East Corridor. Furthermore ERDGAS is involved in WP4 – regulations and harmonization, WP3 – LNG logistics, WP7 and WP8 – dissemination and exploitation.
